Ashtanga Yoga Fundamentals/Led Primary Series Practice.

Throughout this session, Clifford Sweatte, long time Ashtanga yoga teacher and practitioner will guide the class through the Ashtanga Yoga Primary Series. This series is a set sequence of poses also known as the Yoga Chikitsa or Yoga Therapy. This class is for beginners as well as advanced yoga students. Clifford will explain the importance of the asanas (postures) and guide the class through the postures allowing for modifications, depending upon the student’s ability.
Saturday, October 25th 8:00-11:00am Advanced Students to Mysore Ashtanga & Beginner Students to Mysore Ashtanga.
This class is designed for all students wanting to learn more about Ashtanga yoga. Students will be taught the “Mysore Method” of Ashtanga yoga, as was taught in Mysore, India by K. Pattabhi Jois and by David Swenson and teaches in their style. This method is taught one pose at a time as the student learns each posture at their own pace. Advanced students will have the Ashtanga series memorized and have a personal practice. Beginner students may come range from those with no previous yoga experience to those who have attended yoga classes in the past and would like to learn the Ashtanga Primary series. Students should arrive in time to give themselves about 1 hour and a half to practice.
Saturday, October 25th 1:00-3:00pm
History of Ashtanga Yoga/Bandhas-Taking Your Practice to the Next Level in this two hour session Clifford Sweatte will discuss the origins of Ashtanga yoga and how it came to the West. He will also discuss the importance of the Bandhas (energy locks) in the body and how to use them as a means of creating a deeper more meaningful yoga practice. Afterward, he will answer questions from students about the topic.
Sunday, October 26th 8:00-11:00am Led Intermediate Series
This is a class designed for students of all levels. The Intermediate Series of postures is a series of advanced asanas. Clifford will break down the asanas (postures) and offer modifications for students who have not mastered the poses. This class offers a peek into what is to come. All students must arrive before 8:00am and be ready to practice with the class.
Sunday, October 26th 1:00-3:00pm Inversions/Arm Balances & Handstands
This fun afternoon session will allow students to build strength through learning inversions. With guidance from Clifford, students will be able to gain the confidence needed to be able to attempt such postures on their own, or with help.
